Biography

 

Darren Emenau was raised in New Brunswick Canada, and is an award winning graduate of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. Emenau specializes in locally dug clay work and his glazes are developed from local materials like potash, silica, shale, and granite. In his spare time, he is a freelance teacher of various form making and firing techniques. Darren has received consistent recognition for his art practice and professional achievements over the past ten years, including New Brunswick Arts Board Creation Grants in 2008, 2004 and 2000.  A regional grant was awarded in 2010 to work and educated children about utilizing local materials to produce ceramics.  His work has been presented across Canada and is included in public and private collections across Canada, and private collections worldwide.  In 2007,  Emenau’s work was featured in Ceramics Monthly, and he will present a solo exhibition entitled “Tributaries” at the New Brunswick Museum in 2012 as part of the “Know Your Own Artists” Series. His work is currently on display in the Canadian Pavillion at the 2009 Cheoung Jui International Craft Biennale  in South Korea.
